It all began in the sixties in Amsterdam where a young and enthusiast ethnologist started a international antiquarian bookshop together with his business partner mister Koolemans.
Eli Drijver travelled all over the world looking for old libraries in the countries he specialised in, such as Portugal and the colonies, India, China, Brazil and Indonesia. At that time, the antiquarian bookshop was known for its scientifically oriented collections. At the end of the seventies, the antiquarian bookshop was closed and the entire collection of antiquarian books became private property. Now, after 40 years, a number of these collections are on sale again.
